Hurricane Update

Hi Friends! Several of you have asked about our family in light of the approaching hurricane. Thank you - that is so sweet and we are honored you are praying for all of the families who are leaving their homes.

My heart is heavy for families in countries like Haiti who don't have any place to go or an infrastructure that supports the kind of help they will need.

Our children and I have evacuated and are safely ensconced in a friends' inviting home where the hospitality and fellowship are sweet. Please pray for all First Responders who are working diligently in many threatened areas.

We watch the hurricane predictions every day and the current path does show that it will be hitting our area on Saturday early morning. So, we wait and trust that God is still God and still in control.

As we were leaving town yesterday morning - I heard myself humming and realized the phrase I was humming over and over was, "In every high and stormy gale, my anchor holds within the veil."

I'm trying to read a passage each morning that we are away from home that talks about God's authority over storms or uses the visual picture of storms and/or refuge to communicate truth.

We have family in the Orlando and Jacksonville area so we have been keeping up with what is happening. I imagine it was extremely hard to leave David behind. I am sure that his burden is lessened to know that you and the children are safe. I saw on FB that our mutual friend, Ginger, is choosing not to evacuate. I am praying for her and all the others that are in the path of this storm.
