Autumn in Avonlea Part One

It's that time of year again! Our beauty berry bush is heavily laden with tiny purple berries and Labor Day weekend is on the calendar so that means it is time for our annual kick-off to Fall watching Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea!

You can see previous posts about this here: 2007, 2008, 2009, 20112013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. I could not find a post for 2010 or 2012. Some years we have not watched over Labor Day weekend but I don't remember missing any years even though I can't find proof of that!

A long weekend is perfect because we are able to spread our viewing out over a couple of days since each movie is three hours long. So we kicked off Saturday morning with a fun breakfast and the first movie. So much fun!

There is laughing, quoting of favorite parts, noticing various details and critiquing characters involved. After a busy week, I decided to add a few items to my grocery order to make breakfast prep a snap.

Frozen mini quiches, mini cinnamon rolls and muffins from the bakery and sliced strawberries made a delicious, fun and extremely simple meal. And it allowed me to use my time and energy on the fun details!

Snipping a few cute images from Pinterest and printing them out made a super simple way to add to already-hanging garlands. I switched up our letter board for another easy addition.

After that, I ventured out to the yard and cut a few random blooms and berries to decorate our table.

Fun vintage and thrifted items add character both for display and serving. Vintage pie tins were a fun way to serve breakfast on trays and all the fabric touches were saved from previous years.

We also had fun with this coloring page!

It has been so fun to carry on this tradition over the years and continues to be a fun memory-maker for us! What is your kick-off to Fall?

I don't have a tradition to welcome fall, but I should! It is my favorite time of year. I love reading your Anne of Green Gables traditions every year. What fun! I have loved the Anne of Green Gables books as a girl and the movies later in life. I even watched the newer version on Netflix this year, so enjoyed it!

I just love this. I'm going to try and borrow these from the library too. BUT...I really feel like we need to make our apple journey first so we can really feel Fall! Love the simple but delicious meal.
