Slow Day: Nature Walks and Creativity

There is something so calming and peaceful about getting outside for a walk and enjoying the beauty that God has placed around us. I stop for flowers on the side of the road and love picking up little nature goodies when we are out on a walk.

It can be especially fun to find something unique or out of the ordinary - take a look at this mushroom! These are all connected into one base!

We love spotting patches of sunlight or how the sun filters through the trees, watching butterflies and listening to birds. When we slow, we can see minnows in the water or watch the hummingbird come and eat before flying away.

After a nature walk, I love to incorporate some of our goodies into a centerpiece or some kind of art project. On this particular Slow Day - we did both! We wrapped candles with leaves {from this inspiration} and drew pictures of the goodies we'd collected.

We looked forward to gracing our dinner table with our finds and creations!

It is such a good time to be outside. I also love being out in nature, it reminds me of how awesome, big & detailed my Savior is. Nature renews my soul.

I love the candles and all the beautiful leaves. What a good idea.

You always seem to have such a beautiful variety of quilts. Where did you ever get so many?

Is that a breakfast pie? Looks good!

@Tina Leigh: It is Quiche Lorraine for lunch! YUM!!!!! As for the quilts, several of them I have made, the one shown here was one I picked out years and years ago for my bed at my parents house and brought with me, one was from my m-i-l, here and there! Quilts are my FAVORITE!!!!!

A quilt maker to! Why does that not surprise me with all of your talents. I have two quilts. A double wedding ring..I think that's what you call it. My precious neighbor from my childhood gave it to me when I got married. The other is a yo-yo quilt that my mother made. They are dear to me.
