Puddles and Pancakes

Just a glimpse into a couple of fun things we did last week:

Made Piggy Pancakes - these were a big hit!

The next day, the ladies greatly enjoyed God's gift of lots of rain and puddles! Eventually, it started raining again and they were absolutely soaked to the skin by the time they were done! They had so much fun!

What fun things have you been up to?

Those pancakes are adorable. I wonder if my husband would like them? LOL!!!

It's been raining a lot here the last two days-praise the Lord! We need it.

The boys and I walked in the rain and splashed in the puddles yesterday. This was a huge hit with the toddlers! We will probably try to do it again today.

Playing in the rain looks like so much fun!

The latest fun around here is going for walks and collecting pine cones. Megan loves to do it and I can't wait to come up with a craft for all of our treasures.

Your puddle jumping pictures brought to mind a time when our family planned to go camping but torrential downpours (& flooding) kept us at home. So we all (dad, mom, & boys, who were about 8 & 13 at the time) donned our bright blue rain ponchos and played in the puddles (lakes?) of water in our yard. We laughed so hard wondering what the neighbors thought of four blue caped figures running around the yard in the heavy rain...oh, what fun!

Monica, you are such an inspiration! What a great mom you are! Great ideas on the pancakes I know they would be a hit here. Did you just use a knife to cut them into the shapes?

Hello Monica,

We live in the upstate and as you know, we haven't had rain like that in well...I can't remember the last time. It was a lot of fun to play in and just watch. A fun answer to prayer.

Monica,
You are such a wonderful mom to your two littles. I don't know that I would have as much fun watching my kids playing in the puddles. I would be thinking about the mess afterwards. My two kids are in high school now, but I do remember an instance where my son played on a soccer team and it was their last game and it turned out to be a torrential downpour....they of course played the game. I just looked at my son on the side line and said, "it's okay, don't worry if you get dirty. It's unavoidable." To which he and his teammates promptly jumped in the biggest puddle they could. Some of his teammates even fell to the ground on purpose just to get dirty. To this day he said that was the most fun he has ever had at a soccer game.

Now those pancakes are just about the cutest thing. I know your girls loved those. I used to do mickey mouse for the kids in pancakes when they were little. They absolutely thought it was the cutest thing when I only had a bit of batter left and made a wee pancake. I always heard, "I want the little one!"
You are a blessing to your girls and husband and all of us here that read your blog. You help me to remember to be thankful for what I have, for my family and to live a Godly life.
Have a blessed day!
Cheryl

...puddles and pancakes! That's what we've been up to, as well. Pancakes for dinner last night, and we woke up to rain this morning. Would you believe I had to turn on my heater this morning--in August!!!

Those are such fun piggy pancakes. I may have to try those sometime. We have been enjoying the rain here in the upstate the last few days. It hasn't rained this much in a long time.

Hope you and the family are doing well!

What a sweet idea! We just received the "if you give a mouse a cookie" treasury today in the mail. I might have to try this with my little ones. Your little ones are going to grow up and think on what a special mama they had!

Monica,

Those did turn out really cute--not sure how much Nathan would appreciate them yet, but I'll tuck the idea away.

We just had rain earlier today for the first time in weeks!

Very cute pancakes! I can tell you how excited I've been for the christmas crafting posts to start. I would love to just find all the posts you've done about christmas. I am doing a homespun christmas this year and I'm very excited! Everything I've planned so far has been from your blog accept for the original ginger bread that I'm planning on making. Blessings to you!

My boys enjoyed the rain as well. They spent a few hours running, splashing and making dams. I was bummed that I didn't get any pictures, so I'm waiting for more rain!

I can't wait to try the pancakes. My boys will love them I'm sure.

Now, how may I REMEMBER this idea the next time I made pancakes for my little girls??? Print a picture out and tape it to pancake recipe.... maybe that would work!
