Samuel and I had both been eying the sky all week and wanting to get down to the boat landing one evening to see a sunset. I told him we would make that our family night activity and planned a fun picnic.
Well, overcast skies did not provide us a night to see the sunset - but we still had a lovely picnic on the porch! I'd been eying the goldenrod on the side of the road everywhere lately and finally just stopped and picked a few! Lovely!

A wise lady once told me to "hold your plans loosly." I am glad you were able to switch gears and still have a nice time.
On our way home from the beach last Sunday, the harvest moon was so big and bold. It seemed to light the way home for us. What a beautiful time of year to enjoy the evening sky--and less buggy, too.
Hope that Samuel gets to see that sunset over the water soon!
Monica,
So curious as to what dinner was for this -- it looks like a chili/taco/Frito thing?
I looked back through your archives, but couldn't find mention. What do you have in your porch for seating besides the table and chairs? From the pics, it looks like mabe a daybed? No matter what, it looks comfy!
What type of furniture are you using for the seating against the walls on your porch? Looks comfy!
Great plan B -- golden flowers instead of golden sunset and still spending time together :) -- love you, Mom
I'm glad you could still have fun with an indoor picnic ;) :) The goldenrod is really beautiful :) Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather :)
Hi Kellie,
It's chili with cheese and fritos for topping - with a salad on the side :)
Have a great day!
Monica

I jus came across your blog from another blog. I adore what you did with your table setting. Using a thermos to hold flowers, the rustic vintage feel of the serving pieces, comfy tablecloth...all lovely! What a way to enjoy a meal!
