2020: Less

While sitting on the couch recovering from Pneumonia, I had lots of time to think and process and pray. A word that kept coming to mind was this word: less and as I processed it, I knew it was supposed to be my word for this year.

- less spending
- less time away from home
- less stress
- less commitments
- less poor decisions {made because I think they will please others}
- less anxiety
- less stuff

These "less-es" will make room for some healthy more-s:

- more peace
- more calm
- more space in my heart, home and soul
- more boundaries
- more giving
- more of Him
- more time at home

These are just a few of the things that come to my mind in relation to less. I look forward to putting together my monthly goals with the foundation of this word of less being at the forefront. I also want to make an effort to use what we have - thereby acquiring less, purchasing less and being thankful more.

This Spring will not necessarily be a season of less for me as I obey the Lord in tutoring Rachel's CC class this semester. But, I know it will require me to say no to other things and also to rely on the Lord more - less of me, less other commitments.

A verse that is on my heart is this John 3:30, "He must increase, but I must decrease." More of Him, less of me. I'm doing some soul-searching as the year begins about what less looks like in my life this year.

But for now, I'd love to know if you picked a word of the year and what it means to you as we start a new year and a new decade!

I'm excited to see your goals! I'm in full on "simplify" mode... for pretty much the very same reasons you listed! love it!
