Quiet Retreat: At Home Version

Realizing that I would not be having my annual quiet retreat in Colorado this year, I wanted to take advantage of one of the last days before our kids got home to make this happen!

I had jotted a short list/guide the night before of things I hoped to process during this time.

*Pray/Journal
*Sit quietly
*Read back through Discern and Decide notes
*Think through schedule/routines for next school year
*Read Placemaker
*Read some Bella Grace
*Make beauty

This turned out to be too much for me to get through everything but that's ok! I had set aside about five hours for my quiet retreat this year.

I started out by reading through my journal from my quiet retreat last year and it turned out to be such a sweet beginning because I was able to see specific answers in so many areas that I had felt heavy about last year.

Then I journaled some and wrote out a long prayer. This first part took me about an hour in case you are following along to learn some ideas for your own quiet retreat!

I did a little reading next and started getting sleepy so I decided to take a nap and set an alarm - this counts for sitting quietly right?!

After that, I needed to get moving again so I decided it was time for a cup of tea and this was the perfect opportunity for some beauty making!

Leftover cookies from a meeting I hosted the night before {these were brought by a friend!} and a pot of tea all for myself was such a treat! Beauty making is worthwhile even just for yourself!!

With my pot of tea, I opened my Bible to the book of Acts. Recently our pastor said, "If you want to hear God speak to you audibly, read His Word out loud!" I love that and I did read the first nine chapters out loud. It was a very sweet time.

I'll share more about my study time - hope this will inspire you to have your own afternoon of quiet if you can some time this summer!

I LOVE this! I often read God's Word and pray aloud. It helps me to concentrate and makes me feel like I am giving the honor His Word is due. So glad you were able to carve out this time!
