Mother's Day Picnic

Similar to my birthday, I suggested a picnic for Mother's Day as well - our kids are out of town and I don't really like going out on busy holidays! So this was just the thing for a relaxing and enjoyable outing! It was looking off and on like it might rain, but the rain held off until we got home!

It was fun because we hadn't been to this neat site in a long time and this is where David and I got engaged! It rained that day too!

A few fun things: my Mom gave me these adorable thrifted boots for my birthday - I love them! Can't wait to wear them camping! While I was out at breakfast with a friend the day before Mother's Day, they had these beautiful bouquets and I treated myself - what a delightful scent and beauty they have provided with peony, english stock, tulip, roses and queen anne's lace - swoon!

This church was originally built in the mid-1700's and then burned by the British in the Revolutionary War. It was eventually rebuilt and then burned again during the Civil War. It amazes me how beautiful it still is after all of this difficult history. It is a common photo shoot stop and we attended a lovely wedding here once.

Beautiful place for a picnic, and I love that even though your children were not home, you and your husband celebrated YOU! When we lived in Charlotte (we're in the NC mtns. now) and went to the beach, we would pass this lovely spot and get out to take photos. I'd forgotten about it until your post. Thanks for the memories!
