The Beautiful Ordinary

While out for our anniversary dinner recently, David and I were pondering what has made these years together great. There wasn't one thing that we could pin point, but I stated what we were both feeling - it's life lived together. The ordinary every day moments that make life lovely and add up to a beautiful life. Yes, the beautiful ordinary.

It is watching the joy in a peaceful moment where children are playing together peaceably. Or, in Samuel's proclaimed, "bird parades!"

It is watching little brains expand and create in these ordinary moments. And, watching their love of home. And, if there is one thing this family knows how to do it is c.o.z.y.

And, the fact that we know home {which is wherever we are together} is where can be our true selves. What a comfort that brings!

This everyday ordinary beauty does things like make a salad bar from natures little goodies...

It is being together, reading in the same room, comfortable quiet, being a team, supporting and loving one another. There is a certain beauty in the ordinary everyday-ness of life.

I do believe you and David have captured the often elusive secret to happiness. It is not a pursuit, but rather a cherishing.
Your children really are busy learning, exploring, and playing. They made me remember creating salads from nature's garden.
I like the style of Emily's black dress shoes. They look like they would fit my daughter's feet well. She has a narrow heel and has trouble finding dress shoes that don't slip off.
