Creative Worship, Part One

As I look back at our past Creative Worship moments, it seems I could write the same intro each time. I feel overly busy, weary, struggling to keep focus in the season and this tradition really meets me where I need it each year!

You can read about our past Christmas worship here, here, here and here. So, this was our fourth year and I can't imagine Christmas without this now. I am so thankful for how God has reminded me of this each year, given ideas and continued to make it important in my heart and home.

Each year, there are several things about this that are so special to me. One of those is spending this sweet time with my children and reading God's Word with them and I will share more about that tomorrow. But another thing I love is the aspect of sharing of myself in creating something to bring beauty and as act of worship.

This was sort of a happy accident ~ these hearts have been in a jar on my counter since Valentine's Day - yeah, I know - I'm really on top of things! David and the girls collected the pine needles and cones and I realized I liked the hearts for how they reminded us of God's love for us which prompted Him sending His Son and knowing that is what we are celebrating this time of year.

A last minute addition was this w-o-r-s-h-i-p banner with stencil letters I found at a thrift store. It was  big envelope of mis-matched sets and it strikes me that this even is a picture of us. Beauty in the pieced together. Ribbons from the scrap jar were the only addition.

Our wreath from Ann's farm brought light. We talked about the beauty of red reminding us of His blood, the white reminding us of our clean hearts through Him and the green reminding us of the new life He gives us.

Tomorrow, I will share about our creative time together worshiping Him.

When I saw the stencil-spelled WORSHIP, it struck me that our worship is not intended for our own ears or eyes. Since your letters are open, I was given the visual image of your song, creation, and reading rising through the letters to God's glory.

How fitting that our Advent study centers on LOVE this week, and your hearts were nearby for completing your offering of beauty.
