What a fun slow day: ) The soup looks wonderful and I would love to know what kind of mat you used to roll out the cookie dough.

Potato soup is in my crock pot today, too.
I've always associated gingerbread cookies with Christmas, yet I buy gingersnaps at this time of year. I like the idea of spreading the joy of decorating cookies throughout the entire year.
Is the book for your individual reading or to be read to your children?

Monica, I have been away from reading blogs for so long...felt like I was spending too much time reading about other people's lives instead of living my own & investing in my own family lives. ANYWAY, as I was checking weather/news this AM, your blog came to mind and I just thought I would pop in REAL QUICK... And I am SO GLAD to read about your choice for a slow day! Kudoos to you! I am glad you chose to listen to your mom's wisdom and go for it! May your "slow days" abound with blessings!

Your slow day posts just make my heart smile. I don't get to have as many of these with my daughter as I used to (she's now six and in first grade at our church's private school) but we will try to have slow days every chance we can .... on Saturdays or on school holidays ... or even a "slow evening" where we do a bath right after school and just have a quiet evening together - rejoicing when hubby gets home - having dinner together and the chance to rest and relax and really ENJOY being a family. God bless you and yours!

Love your photos! Although we don't do slow days we did make a specific decision, when we moved from Ireland (slow living) to just outside London (very fast living) to not be dragged along into the speed of the general population here. I have my kettle. It's a sit on the top stove and takes about half an hour to boil. There is no such thing as a quick cup of tea in our house(!) and it always reminds me to slow down!
