Beauty: Community

The week of the fires here in Colorado Springs, Focus on the Family and also a local newspaper planned a benefit concert on the 4th of July to help victims of the Waldo Canyon Wildfire. Tickets were free and we were so glad that we were able to go!

We had an early dinner and then headed to the concert!

Community is a word we've been hearing a lot here - I hope it sticks after things settle down from the fire. But, I've noticed people pulling together and reaching out to help their neighbors.

There was quite a line to get in and boy scouts came around and collected our food donations that had been brought in. And, the girls got to meet Miss Colorado.

We had fun signing big thank you posters for all of the firefighters and first responders:

We had fun plus it helped others - that's a win-win and beauty!

I am so glad to hear the Denver and the Springs still have a sense of community after all these years! You see I lived in the area in the 80's and have relatives who still live there. Every time there has been a crisis the community really pulls together! Even before the big sponsored events there have been little activities all over the city as a means to help out the victims. Even events sponsored by children! :)
