Rainbows

Rainbows and I go waaaaay back ~ oh, yes - I can picture my bedroom in Overland Park, KS circa 1980 with sweet yellow furniture and pastel striped rainbow bedspreads! I had rainbow stripey sandals and a Rainbow Brite doll. I had a bunny with rainbow striped ears that played Somewhere Over the Rainbow and Cheer Bear Care Bear. Rainbow earrings, socks, necklace, everything - I loved rainbows!!!!

And, how cute is this? I saw a friend from elementary school this summer and asked her daughter what her favorite color was - she said rainbows because her mom told her that rainbows were my favorite. Oh.my.for.cuteness. (as Carrie would say!)

Moving 30 years (ack!) past 1980 - we are being revisited by a rainbow love! While discussing science project ideas for an upcoming homeschool science fair Rachel mentioned wanting to do something with rainbows. Okey dokey - that's just fine with me! And, so fun!

So, we've been working on her project board and doing some fun rainbowy things ~ plus, with rainbows on the brain I've just noticed a few others around our home.

These rainbowy popsicle sticks even look amazing in Film Grain mode - my new fave:

A super fun new breakfast idea - which was a big hit!
Note: We are loving reading these stories at breakfast!

Art supply rainbows! {thank you, Kayleigh & Kassy!}

I'll share more about Rachel's project as we get closer to the Fair!

So, did you have a favorite color as a child? Mine was rainbows all the way!

My favorite color was and still is purple. I had a
Urple bed room growing up and we have one now as well. I was told once that purple was the cole of the rich. We were not rich growing up but having a purple bedroom made me feel rich. Now it makes me feel cozy and as if Summer is right here with me no matter what weather is outside.
I love what you do for your kids!

There are so many colors
in tne rainbow,
So many colors in the morning sun;

My favorite color as a child was pink. I even had pink carpet in my bedroom. :)

Seeing and hearing about rainbows made me think of a good friend. She was a lover of all things rainbow when we were kids. I'll have to give her a call today.

Have you ever made rainbow Kabobs? You use fruits the color that correspond with the colors of the rainbow. Fun!

Enjoy your day!

Mine was yellow. I had a cast iron bed painted a pretty bright yellow. My grandma made me a yellow quilt to cover my bed and I had yellow ceramic initials on my wall. I still love the jolly yellow but am a neutral hue girl now. I remember singing some where over the rainbow when I was a little girl. I would play out side in my back yard on the swing that was tied in a tree and pretend I was Dorthy. Have a sweet day full of rainbows. Angelia in Tx

Have you seen the movie A Shine of Rainbows? It is set on an Island off the coast of Ireland. It's family friendly but Watch it with a box of tissues.

Have you seen the movie A shine of Rainbows? I think you'd enjoy it if you love rainbows and all things colorful. It is set on and Irish island off the coast of Donegal. It is family friendly but watch it with a few tissues at hand.

I have never thought to say that rainbow was my favorite color. But have always said that it was to hard to pick. I love color to much just to pick one as a favorite.

Love what your doing with your sweet family.

Oh, rainbows are so nice :) :) I used to LOVE seeing all those large sets of colored markers when I was kid. I thought that was the coolest thing :) :) Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather :)

Oh I so love rainbows too. I would spend hours [still do] arranging crayons, spools of thread, necklaces...
And my blog is called Tracing Rainbows!
The rainbow is the promise of God's unfailing Grace - how could we not love it?
