When Daddy needed some quiet and two little girls needed some fun, this was a great remedy! We drove to a nearby city and took advantage of a few things there!
First, I took them to get their annual pictures taken. I'm late on Rachel's and a bit early on Emily's, but combining them into one trip really helped! (will share their pictures later!)
Then, we took in their lunch of choice ~ Chick-Fil-A and headed to a newly discovered pumpkin farm! There were tons of photo ops! And, fortunately, we went when most children are in school - it started getting busy around 3 when school lets out and we were about done by then.
We had a great time on the hayride, games, playing in the hay and picking out pumpkins to bring home! And, they had this huge jumping pillow that our little ladies had a ball on!
On the way home, I stopped to take a picture of this cute old gas station. I tell myself every time I drive this road that I will stop and I never do - here it is:

I love the pumpkin farms. It is such good old fashioned fun.
I know what you mean about the red bench Monica! I would love one too.
Blessings to your family from me in Australia.

At such a hard time, what a blessing that was shared by our loving Heavenly Father.
Loved the pics, and that old timey gas station ~ priceless!
I recognize the old store but never really LOOKED before because I'm always driving...never noticed the bench. I'm glad the girls had a good outing. Fall is wonderful
Dear Monica, what great photos of a fun time for the little ladies! I'm so glad this was available to you following the hard things of the previous days. Love the Farmall tractor and old-time gas station, too! :) Thanks for sharing -- love to all, Mom
Looks like fun. I love the red bench too! I think a bench like that would look wonderful in an entryway.
You girls are so CUTE jumping on that pillow!! LOL!! And I just LOVe that old Texaco station! Is it still a working gas station?!?!? It doesn't look like it, but, one never knows unless one asks! :D
Looks like a nice time that was needed. What pumpkin patch did you go to?
Sorry for your loss. Continue to claim God's promises of peace and grace for each day.
Love your beautfiful pictures at the pumpkin farm...one of my favorite outtings in the fall with our kids.
Looks like lots of fun! Great pictures!
Beautiful pictures of such a wonderful outing! x
Looks like you had fun at the pumpkin patch. Your girls are so adorable and you can just see in their big grins what they thought of it all.
I've always heard benches like that called deacons benches. They look like short church pews. I've known folks who got them when older churches were remodeling or closing their doors. Sometimes you can even shorten a full-length pew (or so I've heard tell).
These are wonderful & charming pictures and only reaffirm why I love this time of year so much! Thank you for sharing. :)
I'm so sorry for loss your family recently went through. It sounds like David's dad was an inspiration to all. Your blog is very inspiring too. I loved all the pumpkin patch photos, your kids are adorable.
Blessings,
Marcia
Great pictures Monica! I am so glad you were able to get out and have some fun. I love the old gas station and red bench with the red fuel pump.

Darling photos, Monica. I LOVE them.
I'm so glad you and the little ladies had a fun day together.
Love you, Grandma
Aw, the girls look so sweet. I always loved going to farms like that and going on a hayride and picking apples.
I love that red bench at the gas station too. It looks like an old church pew. I have been wanting one of those for years.
I think that's an old church pew! Keep your eyes peeled--I bet you run across them in antique stores and such and don't even know it. A little re-finishing and some paint, and you've got yourself a red bench!
:)

Cool!!! That looks like so much fun. There is nothing like a good ole "pumpkin day"... and yeah, if only we had a weathered ole porch and red bench to sit upon and hear the amazing, timeless stories it would tell - if only it could.
