Cream Cheese Mints

Last Christmas, I found a baggie of little plastic molds with a recipe in it - the whole thing was fifty cents! And, I remember my Grandma making these! She even made tons of them for my wedding and brought them all the way to Colorado to serve at our reception. I made them the other day for a little tea party we went to, a fun special treat!

Here is the recipe that was included in with the molds, Grandma - is this like your recipe?

3 oz. softened cream cheese
1 T. butter (recipe card said oleo!)
3 c. powdered sugar
3 drops flavoring
food coloring

Knead together cream cheese, butter and powdered sugar. Add flavoring and coloring. Roll tiny spoonfuls in sugar and press into mold. Press to release. Store in fridge, can be frozen.

Makes 6-7 dozen

My aunt has made these for years. They are always so yummy. We make them for weddings, showers, or anything that we can. I don't think her recipe has butter in it though. I think she just used cream cheese and powdered sugar. You've just made me hungry for these.

As soon as I saw the post title and picture my mouth watered. We used to make these "growing up" - they would always be found at special events, especially at showers (baby or bridal).

They're not the same if they are not done up in molds...
lovely memory.

Pretty! I remember Grandma making these many times over the years. :) Like you, I found a little mold at a yard sale, but later loaned it to a friend and it was never returned. :( Love you, Mom

I remember making these with family friends for years -- for so many events, wedding showers, weddings and so much more. The mints were wonderful, but so was the fellowship with those special ladies -- sitting around the table talking, laughing, and getting cream cheese and sugar all over our fingers! :)

So is the "flavoring" mint? I've never liked mint! The mints look so pretty, I wish I did! But I just can't. Yelch. I wonder if you could make these and put another flavoring in them? Would they still be "mints"?? :)

BTW, I don't remember if I've ever commented before, but I read your blog regularly! It's one of my faves!

I have wonderful memories of making these mints. I attended a country grade school from K-8 and we made these every May for a Mother's Day Tea that we put on complete with program of singing and poems as well as giving our mother's a handmade gift that we made in school.

These mints were always the highlight of the tea. I also used to make them with my grandma. We would make all kinds of flavors and designs for weddings, graduations and the holidays.

Hi Monica:

The recipe is the same, except for the butter (oleo) Mine doesn't have that.

I was thinking I had given you some of my molds (if not all of them) Didn't I? I had some Christmas ones, I know...and I thought I had given them to you. I'll have to look when I get home to see what I still have. (I am at Carrie's house now, you know.)

These do sound delicious! What type of flavoring did you use? I am not a big fan of peppermint. Would vanilla work with these?

By the way, I received my tin memo boards from your etsy shop last week. I use one in my kitchen to hold my menu plan for the week and the other on my desk to hold important school papers. Thank you!

I did not have any mint flavoring - so actually just splashed a little vanilla in there. They tasted great! I am sure you can use any flavoring you prefer!

I have searched and researched your sight. I thought sure you had posted a handprint bouquet you had made for your mom one mothers day??
