Remembering France Day One

Five years ago, this summer, I got to go to France with my parents and Eric and Carrie! (David wasn't able to get off work and I was pregnant with Emily.) What a very fun trip this was! I love revisiting the memories and pictures!!

So, here is a day-by-day remembering of our visit and my favorite things!

This was my parents first time overseas! So, I had to capture them at the airport getting ready to board an international flight! And, one of our special reasons for going was that my mom was going to be celebrating her 50th birthday on Bastille Day - and wanted to do so in France!

I don't exactly remember how we were successful at getting a taxi once we got to Paris - but we managed to get to our hotel and get checked in. Now, it was going to be a bit until we met up with Eric and Carrie, so we went walking and exploring! Yes, we had flown all night and were jet lagged, but we could not waste time now that we were there!

My Mom and I on the Champs-Elysees:

My Dad and I in front of the Arc de Triomphe!

The Arc de Triomphe:

After our walk down the Champs les Elysses and to see the Arc de Triomphe, we headed back to our hotel for some rest. We met up with Eric and Carrie and then headed out again to see some more and find some dinner. Much easier with Carrie along as she speaks/understands the most French of any of us!

Sacre Coeur:

See the Eiffel Tower?

Tomorrow, we will visit Monet's Garden, Deauville, Honfleur and site of Joan of Arc's death.

Monica, I was fortunate enough to go in 9th grade and as a freshman in college. In college we spent 3 weeks touring France. French and English were my majors. Anyway, thanks for the memories (my times there were in 1978 and 1982!)

How fun! I never made it to France, but I did live in Germany for several years. I loved so much about Europe. Looking forward to hearing about your trip.

glad you liked France, I miss it a lot.
I am from a little street close to l'Arc de Triomphe so it is nice to see it!
I am curious about the side where Joan of Ard died. I never knew we had such thing!

Looks like a great trip! I've always wanted to visit France but don't think I will get to seeing how hubby doesn't want to spend a dime in that country!

Ah, what a special trip! We've had our photos out, too -- we were watching a Rick Steves travel show the other evening, and he was visiting many of the same sites we did (Honfleur, Mont St. Michel, Giverny, Omaha Beach, and Bayeaux). We followed along in our photo album! I look forward to seeing more about what you remember -- love you, Mom

I went to France (as well as England, Germany, Switzerland, and Belgium) back in 1998. This really brings back memories for me, and I look forward to what you share tomorrow! It looks like you all had a great time--how special to get to go with your parents!
