Summer Media

This is probably my first installment of a post like this as I will likely add to it as the summer goes along! One of the beauties of summer is having time to read more!

Each year, I love to order myself two or three books that have been on my wishlist for a while to read and enjoy during the summer. I'll tell you about those once we are back home and I get a chance to start reading them!

For now, I'm taking advantage of the Colorado Springs library {I've never seen another library system like it!} which has so many more books available than I am accustomed to.

In my library pile:
The Farmette Cookbook: Recipes and Adventures from My Life on an Irish Farm
Deep Run Roots: Stories and Recipes from My Corner of the South
Patina Farm
The I Heart Naptime Cookbook
She Reads Truth
All the Pretty Things

Movies we've been watching - *'d ones without children:
Hidden Figures
Downton Abbey Season Two*
The Miracle Worker
Phantom of the Opera*
The Happiest Millionaire

Music I'm listening to:
Kari Jobe: Majestic {Live}
God that Saves

Magazines:
Bella Grace

Non-library books:
Carry On, Mr. Bowditch
Cold Case Christianity for Kids
Charlotte's Web

Your turn! Tell me your summer media ideas!

I love this. Here are mine.

Books I am currently reading. YES...all at the same time. *smiles*

Hudson Taylor's Spiritual Secret
Power of a Praying Woman
The Power of a Transformed Wife
The 12 Brides of Summer Collection (PERFECT short stories filled with wholesomeness)

Books that are on my Summer Wish List to read are...

Teaching From Rest: A Homeschooler's Guide to Unshakeable Peace by Sarah Mackenzie
Comfort Detox M. Straza

With the children we have been doing "older aged" picture books. They have missed picture books as they are getting older it is harder to find some that is more for them so we are finding a few good ones by the author James Stevenson.

Movies/Shows
We really watch a lot more movies in the Fall/Winter and tend to slack off in the summer time. BUT...here are a few I have watched recently.

Victorian Slums
Garage Sale Mystery Shows on Amazon Prime
Inspector Lewis (Just finish all the seasons)

I'd like to watch..

Emma (It has been a while since I have watched this one)
Anne of Green Gables
Swiss Family Robinson

I would love to watch some Pioneer Woman episodes! I do not have cable or Netflix so I am not sure how to.

I plan to read Babysitter Club aloud to my daughter. I loved these growing up.

I love how you have cookbooks in your pile. I never think to do that. Great idea and list. Thanks for sharing.

I recently ordered a book that I love and I bet you would love it, too! It's called Clara's Kitchen: Wisdom, Memories, and Recipes from the Great Depression. Clara was a woman who had a YouTube channel while she was in her 90s, and she talks about old-fashioned values and the way that her mother created delicious meals with very simple ingredients.

I'm reading None Like Him by Jen Wilkin and You and Me Forever by Francis and Lisa Chan. Honestly- two of the best books I've picked up in a long while!

I read this post title and thought you would be addressing media limits, etc. So glad you came at this from a positive angle. Good material = good input = good output.
I'll reference this list in the future. I'm currently reading a very light Christian fiction series, after plowing through The Poisonwood Bible.

I am in the middle of moving, so not reading much at the moment, but my TV and DVD player and DVD's are almost the last things things I pack away. They keep me sane! Recently I've been watching My Six Loves, and old one, with Debbie Reynolds, very cute and family/kid friendly. If you like Fred MacMurray (Happiest Millionaire), you should look at Follow Me Boys and Bon Voyage. I think you and your family would like both of those. And if your like Jimmy Stewart, look for Harvey (Absolutely delightful!), and The Jackpot!
