Slowing Summer: Neighborhood Walk

These photos represent several walks in several different neighborhoods over the past couple of weeks! I love taking my camera along and finding beauty along the way - some of these photos are probably weeds and/or taken in yards that look neglected or ignored. Beauty is still there to be found and it is refreshing to my spirit to walk around the block even if it only takes ten minutes!

Your dad looks great. Great pictures Monica, so much beauty in all of them.

It's funny; our yard is neglected right now (Florida rainy season has begun and the afternoons are soo humid and oppressive... we usually hire out the lawn care in the summer but this year our budget is a bit tighter, so one of us is going to have to deal with it this weekend!), but we have pretty yellow and white "flowers" (read: weeds) decorating the too-long grass! :D

Fun to be part of this walk with you, and to see it through your eyes via these photos. :)

I love reading your posts. Its nice to find the beauty in life. I was wondering if you sold the shirt that you wear that says beautiful slow. I would love to have one if you do or let me know where to find one. Thank you. Michelle

Natalie recently found a 4-leaf clover in our yard, so she was excited.

Love LFL's, but don't think I've been to that red one.

Glad you're enjoying some nice walks. I've been taking one in each morning--love this time of year.

So much strikes me in your photos...
beauty in the midst of neglected lawns (which I see plenty of on neighborhood walks)
your dad's SLOW shirt in support of his girl
Rachel carrying an umbrella on a walk--love her spunky spirit
Emily in a skirt and Rachel in pants--switcheroo!
glimpsing those majestic CO peaks
Thank you for taking us along on your walks.

Love how you see the beauty in even neglected things...We drive around looking at houses, and I always see these gorgeous old homes that "just need a little paint", then my husband says, "Sweetie, they need more than paint; they're about to fall in." I don't know, maybe the optimist in me thinks they can be loved back to life a little too easily. Anyway, love all the pics! I don't think I would ever leave Colorado!
