Handmade Christmas: Dish Cloths and Cork Hot Pads

Each year around Thanksgiving, I love to gift each one of the tutors in our CC Community with something for Christmas! I'm always on the lookout for thrifty and practical ideas to give!

This year, I got some cute Chevron tablet covers on a major clearance from Dayspring and they support Mercy House in Africa! I wanted to put a couple of little things with it and found these cork rounds for 80% off at Michael's one day this summer.

I printed off each last name initial in a large font and cut it out with an x-acto knife. Then I used that as a stencil for painting in the letter. It took me about an hour to make all seven!

I've also really been enjoying crochet lately and dish cloths are my favorite because they don't take too long and everyone needs them!

What simple, thrifty, homemade gifts do you like to give?

I bought some 1.00 Christmas oven mitts from the Dollar Tree... I embellished them with cute little glitter snowflakes that I found at Hobby Lobby. I plan on putting a little bag of chocolate chips and a wooden spoon and handing them out as thank you gifts for our teachers at Church!

Love you thriftiness Monica you are simply amazing and have a beautiful giving heart. I like to give little gift baskets that I fill with items special towards that person. I used to make cards and give a set of ten of them. What a special gift friend.

Yes, this is what I mean when I say that you are resourceful! I would have picked up those cork pads since they were 80% off, but would have never thought to personalize them with a monogram. If you need more of these, Ikea has them in a 3 pack that is inexpensive.

Adorable!!!! They will love the gifts! When my 2 older girls were younger I made American Girl Doll dressers. I bought 3 drawer corrugated cardboard dressers from walmart and decopaged pictures from the catalog on them. They turned out precious! I was considering doing the same thing for my 2 younger girls (maybe a different theme) but I'm not sure if Walmart still carries them.

I've been loving to make monogrammed tea towels lately. I think they are so fun, relatively inexpensive, and just plain cute! I'm doing them for teacher gifts this year coupled with homemade pear preserves, and thrifted(but brand new!) Christmas spreaders. I will also write down my little cream cheese biscuit recipe.
