Downton Party

I hosted a little party for some friends and the season finale of Downton Abbey {please don't judge}!
We had a great time - here are a few photos of our fun ...

A little fun mood setting at the front entry! Inspiration for the Aristocratic Name Game here
Keep Calm print here.

David was such a good sport in joining our fun and dressing as "Mr. Carson" to greet guests. He helped them create their aristocratic name and then presented them to the group!

I had fixed up our den to be cozy and comfy! We don't have a lot of seating there - so I wanted to make sure even the floor was inviting!

I moved our coffee table over to the side and covered it with a cute tablecloth to become our snack table! Can you see the banner on the front of the table - find it here. I did all printables on brown craft paper unless otherwise noted.

You can find themed cupcake {or other goodies!} toppers here.

I made maple oat scones and topped with this printable. These were printed last minute on plain copy paper, cut out and taped to toothpicks - voila!

A few flowers from the Daffodil Farm and some lights - guests provided the rest of the yummies!

And, of course we had hot tea!

Yay! What a fun time - we're already thinking we need a repeat at the premier of the next season!
It was so fun to enjoy together with friends.

What a great party! We are cRaZy Downton fans!! I can not judge because we have had many "tea parties" on Sunday nights. Been watching since the very beginning and have to say it sure is not as good as it was in the beginning. Last episode was awful! Not because Matthew's accident/death, but because it just was not good...in my opinion.
Anyway, great party!!! As always you are so creative.

My goodness, who would judge??? Only someone who hasn't seen this amazing and lovely show from "across the pond"!! :-)

This is fabulous! I love that you took the time to do this and spend this time with your friends. Unfortunately, all my DA fan friends are far away.

Have you seen Call the Midwife? The second season starts on 3/31. Don't miss it. I think you would LOVE it. And the new series Mr. Selfridge, which also start son 3/31 is supposed to be fabulous as well!

Happy Monday!

How fun and lovely! Makes me wish i had been there! We love Downton here, and grieved for days after the finale! I know, I know, a little obsessed. But your party is such a great idea. I might try something like this next season. Thanks for sharing.

I too am a fan of Downton. What a fun party! I'm sure everyone had fun. Your husband was so gracious to join in the fun. I'm not pleased with a few of the abrupt endings, however I'm relieved Bates is out of prison. Hes my favorite.
I'm hoping next season brings better things.....

As always, such a lovely party with amazing attention to detail. So many fun touches. Thanks for sending me some goodies so I could be part of it from a distance.

This is darling!!! My favorite thing was the little cupcake topper saying "Free Mr Bates!" How lovely for you to take the time and effort to bless your friends and make a special memory! Laura

My only judgment is: That looks FABULOUS!!! What a fun party!!! I've seen some of those printables on pinterest and may have to do something for Season 4... and I, too, can't wait for Mr. Selfridge - saw the preview and it looks so good! But it's just something to bide the time til Downton is back! :)

When you first mentioned an upcoming Downton viewing party, I thought that it was so ambitious of you. And your planning, decorating, baking and fluffing made the atmosphere welcoming.

But, what most struck me is that it was all very do-able. So many times, I resist hospitality because I don't have the ideal dishes, seating arrangement, group of guests, food on hand, etc. You just illustrated that some of those "make-do's" are what makes a gathering feel comfortable.

You encouraged guests to dress comfortably and asked them to bring their favorite tea party food. I always enjoy going to someone's home when I can feel like I am helping the hostess, in some small way.

David gave Mr. Carson "a run for his money." How handy to have tails and tux in his closet!

It is obvious that you had this lovely party to enjoy a fun show with friends, not just to stage the background for a blog post. Thank you for keeping it real!
