The Vow: a review

The Vow is another book I received to review came back in February! Carrie was in the hospital and I decided to send it to her instead - and she returned it when I was just at her house.

I had been looking forward to reading it - I usually enjoy peoples stories and especially when so flavored with their faith and a testimony of how God has worked in their lives. This book was not a disappointment and was an easy read.

I haven't seen the movie, but have heard that it doesn't really follow the book including names, places and faith not matching up on the movie. This is a great book that describes a very hard situation between a newly married couple and how they endure the accident and recovery process that followed.

Have any of you read the book or seen the movie?

Disclosure: I received this book free for review here. All opinions are my own.

I've read the book and seen the movie. I didn't know before seeing the movie that it was so different from the book. The couple's faith is not mentioned at all in the movie -- very disappointing. The real couple's story is a testimony to God's grace in a very difficult situation. My suggestion is read the book, skip the movie.

Thanks for sharing! Love, Mom

I haven't read the book, but watched the movie the other night when I had some unexpected alone time. I agree with MOM, skip it!

I was excited for the movie. While sewing last week I thought I'd pay to rent it on Amazon. The movie was a disappointment. There was never a mention of the couples faith. Never a mention of the power of God. I'd suggest skipping the movie.

I have a hold placed on the movie through my library. Based on yours and your mom's review, I will instead place the book on hold. Thank you!

I saw the movie. I like both the lead actors & they did an ok job, not their best movie. It was clean & fun to watch. I didn't know it was based on a real story until a day or so before watching the movie. I am looking forward to reading it, especially now that I know it was a faith-full journey!

I thought it would be a wonderful movie because the storyline seemed so compelling and I had heard the original story through Focus on the Family. So, I was disappointed that they had to show Channing Tatum's nude backside in the show and that the couple ended up in divorce. Sounds like I should read the book now that I've seen the movie and been disappointed.
