Casa Bonita

There is a really super unique Mexican restaurant in Denver called Casa Bonita that I remember going to as a child - here I am with my sister circa 1984.

We have never ventured to Denver with our littles, but thought it would be fun to take them up there this summer. So, we went!

We dined on Mexican food, watched a puppet show, enjoyed a pinata, played in the arcade and did I mention there was a waterfall complete with cliff divers? Oh, yes - I know it sounds crazy and hard to believe, but they really do dive off cliffs into the pool at the bottom. Super cool.

Thank you, Mom and Dad, for such a fun trip and sweet new memories! It was fun to remember going here as a child and take my own children! Oh, the fountain out front is apparently super fun too!
Anyone else ever been here?

Casa Bonita! Wow talk about bringing back memories!!! I went there many times as a teenager and a young adult as we moved to the Denver Metro area in 1980. We went everytime we had out of town company. I have since moved away and now have a family of my own but have not been back in many a year as my mother moved as well.

Thank you! :)

Did you have sopapillas with honey?

What fun to take two generations of our family to Casa Bonita -- and how amazing that in 25 or so years, it hadn't changed! Great photos of our fun day there -- thanks for sharing. :) Love, Mom

What fun to share this with your children and parents! I remember going there a few times as a kid, but haven't been since we've lived in Colorado. I remember some tunnel areas you could go through.

Gotta love our matching braids. =)

So glad you had a fun time! I have many memories from that place. Did your kids still get to pick out a little treat from the treasure chest on your way our?

I was there about 15 years ago and it looks exactly the same! My husband's grandparents lived in Denver and this was an annual trip for him. Fun!

I went 2 times when we lived in Denver. My daughter still talks about it. The food used to be a joke, but the last time we went it was fine. The sopapillas were fantastic though.
