31 Days to Clean: Having a Martha Home the Mary Way

Considering this has been ALL over the web on blogs, I'm betting you've heard of Sarah's Mae's ebook by now?

I have to jump in and say a few words, because I really love what she has put together! I saw it a few weeks and just hesitated to purchase for some reason. Then, I got an e-mail from a childhood friend suggesting I take a look at it - I had company and waited a few more days and then saw a half price coupon code on Money Saving Mom. So, I jumped at that chance and am so glad I did! (So sorry the sale is over now.)

In case you haven't heard much - I'll recap for you. The title really does tell it all, each day - there is a Mary Challenge and a Martha Challenge.

Confession: I have not done one single chore she has suggested yet. And, I've only completed one Mary Challenge. I love Sarah Mae's heart behind this and in it and through it. It is going to take me long beyond 31 days just to process all the heart things related to my home not to mention actually doing some cleaning!

The first Mary Challenge was thinking about why we want a clean home - here is what I came up with:

Lord, please enable me to joyfully make this home into a cozy, inviting, peaceful and God-honoring haven. I want to remove the stress of clutter and disfunction and replace it with laughter and order. As I sweet up dirt and wipe dust - please create a clean heart and mind in me as well. And, let a peaceful home make me a more peaceful wife and mama. May You always feel welcomed here and at home in our hearts where we seek to glorify You!

Why do you want a clean home?

Well, my first thought was so I can walk through the house without having all kinds of gross stuck to my feet!

Not so spiritual-- I'll have to think on this a bit more. :-)

I want a clean home because I want my husband and children to feel comfortable bringing their friends over, I want guests to feel at ease and welcome, I want to be able to take care of my family without having to search through piles to find what we need and lastly because God is a God of order and not chaos and I want our home to reflect that to the best of my ability.

I have been seeing this book all over, as well. Will be interested to hear more of what you thought. Who is the person who e-mailed you about it?

I am reading this book right now as well! Since becoming a stay at home mom I have always considered keeping a clean house part of my job in keeping my family healthy and safe.

I totally agree with Mary Ann and Tracy. I do think, to some degree, that the outward reflects the inward, and if that's the case, my inward is a BIG MESS. I am having a yard sale this weekend so hopefully that will help with the clutter and then I can just maintain. Hopefully...

I have this ebook too....I'm so glad you posted about it. I process things in a similar way (it'll take much more than 31 days!) so I'm glad to read your heart and perspective!
