I'm excited about the Beginning Reader's Bible because I have a child who is a beginning reader! I love the pictures in this Bible and my very favorite thing is that it is actual Bible text, not a story format.There are little activity suggestions, prayer ideas and suggested verses to memorize. Plus, a reading chart in the back where children can mark off sections they've read. This Bible uses the International Children's Version and is at a third-grade reading level.

We do AWANA, and I give them a small part of the verse and then gradually add on a word at a time. then we repeat it 2 or 3 times a day for the week. I have 2 beginning readers who stare at their Bible's pretending to read. They would love a Bible they actually could read!
We don't have any children, but I've heard and learned that setting Scripture to music is a wonderful way to memorize!

Honestly, when reading the Bible aloud in the exciting, enthralling story it is, THAT'S what makes it come alive for our kids. I wish that adults did that more, even.
This Bible was recommended on another blog & looks good! Right now, we are memorizing Scripture by saying the verse a little at time at dinner (w/ lots of hand motions & plenty of silliness) We add more to the verses when everyone is ready to move on (right now we are working on Psalm 23) My littles love seeing both Mommy & Daddy memorizing, too!
We love to learn about God through music. Hillsong's dvds for kids are awesome. I also love Steve Green's Hide 'em in Your Heart cds for memorizing scripture.
I would love a chance. We do a lot of crafts pertaining to the BIBLE verse with our 3 1/2 year old. Normally spending about a week on a certain store. THANKS!
We do AWANA also. we work on our verses every morning at breakfast. I need a Reading Bible for Bri so this would be great.
I do not have children but we have two special nephews in our lives.
While in college I was the Children's Director at my church. The best way I found for little minds to memorize scripture was to put it to music. A gentleman in our church played the guitar and he came in to children's church to teach a musical bible verse each SUnday that wet with the lesson.
To be honest...I still remember those scriptures!

To make the Bible come alive, we act out parts of Scripture. My kids love being Israelites wandering in the wilderness. They are really good at complaining about the manna!!!

We have 2 beginning readers in our house so this would be a great win. Our kids have learned about 50 scriptures to memory by using Charlotte Mason's Scripture Memory System- reciting them one after another day after day.

I like to talk about what they learned at Sunday School. We also read devotionals and talk about the stories.
My 6yo son loves to listen to the Bible on CD. Our favorite way to memorize scripture right now is through Junior Bible Quiz because the competition is fun and the repition drills it in like nothing we've tried before. I love LOVE LOVE how children are so open to God's word!

I would live to win this Bible for my almost three year old, Ian. Right now we read through his Bible (the Jesus Story Book Bible) at breakfast and have completed it several times over. I would love to have a more literal childrens translation as well, especially for activities like the Easter week you have done for the past couple years (so excited to try it out this year!).
As far as making the Bible come alive for Ian, we just talk about Biblical concepts and stories often throughout the day. We see a flower and talk about creation, about the lilies of the field, and about God's love for us, etc. Also, prayer, especially when Ian is having big feelings makes him feel so close to Jesus. As far as scripture memorization, we have some Seeds Family Worship CDs which are really awesome and are helpful to our whole family in that area.

My son has to memorize a scripture each week for Sunday school. I recently thought that it would be great for the whole family to memorize it.
Bible stories come alive when we use a curriculum that has you draw scenes from the story as it is told to you.
We are very remiss at memorizing scripture. I really need to work on this!
Oh my new-reader four year old would love this! One was we are currently making the Bible come alive for our daughter is to use "Resurrection Eggs to tell the Easter story - it's a great visual way to share the Gospel!

Hands on activities really seem to cement the word in our kids minds.
Our family would love to receive this Bible. We have bought two Bibles for our four year old in the past year. We have read through both of them. He really enjoys memorizing scripture and has recently started sing...A LOT! This would make an extra special gift in his Easter basket.
This would be another perfect gift for my nephews :)
When I read the Bible aloud to my kids I try to be sure to use a lot of voice inflection. I think that helps a lot in making it fun to listen to. We also like to act out Bible stories and do crafts that go with them even just drawing pictures of the story.
We work on verse memory as a family every night as part of our family worship in an attempt at formative instruction so we can then use those verses when an offense has been done. Once we've talked about it outside of a discipline situation, it seems to make much more sense when we then apply it to a real-life situation.
My five year old is almost finished with her first grade phonics program so this will likely be perfect for her to read by herself in several months! My daughter loves to make up skits about her Bible lessons, which is a great way for her to retain the stories.
We just read "Bible books" as my son calls them a lot. And then talk about things at church as they are happening. I'm always looking for new ways to make it more 'alive' for him!

I'm excited to start doing memory verses for our family devotions. Each Friday we'll get a memory verse written out and we'll make it into a chain link (like I saw you did for your lent activities). As we learn more verses, we can add them to the chain. I think we'll start by memorizing Psalm 23 first. I'm really excited about it. :)
Our oldest daughter is just starting to read, too, and I think she'd love this Bible!

My girls memorize Scripture in our family devotions as well as in Frontline Clubs--kind of like Awana.
I don't have a child yet, so I can't really comment on making the bible come alive for my kid. But my husband is the youth minister at church, and I teach the youth on occasion. Usually I just teach on what God is teaching me, along with the accompanying scriptures. Kids respond well when they see you living out God's truth in your own life and learning along with them. Way better than simply preaching at them.
We talk about the things we dont understand, ask questions and then share what we learned. It is making a huge difference!

Megan's school has a scripture a week based on the alphabet. We repeat it before each meal. I have also found scriptures to music a fun way to learn.
My 19 month old loves to sing along to Bible songs on a CD or while I play them on the piano.
This is great! Our favorite way to remember scripture is to write it out on construction paper, tape it to the floor and play hopscotch with it. You have to say the word before you can jump to the next square. The kids love it!

we read the ABC book by Scripture Memory Foundation over and over...the boys know it as well as the ABC songs☺ I just ordered a new copy because ours is getting so beat up!

My little one isn't reading just yet but I think one of the best ways to have them memorize scripture is to memorize alongside them. Set the example so that they can follow and recite together.

Perfect for my 6 year old! We memorize by having the verses on index cards, reading them regularly and turning them into our own song!

My favorite way to help Bible stories come alive for my 3 year old is to act them out ourselves and also use laminated story figures to act them out.
