To See Like My Savior: Make an Appointment

Even though making an appointment may be the fastest part of our process, are you like me?

Even if I have one or more symptom(s) and need to seek the help of another, I find myself putting it off.

It's one more thing to do! Will I take my children or have to schedule a sitter? How much is this going to cost? Is it going to be painful? What if they find something major is wrong?

Are you nodding your head? You do it too?!

Here's the thing - we have to be willing to seek the help but we also have to want to be well, to be in a different place than we are now.

If I can't read the lit signs at night - or on the screen at church, I have to desire to be different or I won't care to do anything about it.

I know I've shared about John 5 before, but it fits perfectly here and is a favorite and meaningful passage to me.

John 5: 2-9,
"Now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate a pool, which in Aramaic is called Bethesda and which is surrounded by five covered colonnades. Here a great number of disabled people used to lie - the blind, the lame, the paralyzed. One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, 'Do you want to get well?'

'Sir,' the invalid replied, 'I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.'

Then Jesus said to him, 'Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.' At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked."

Just as Jesus asked the man, "Do you want to get well?"

In this case, the Physician met the patient right in the midst of the symptoms and reality. And, He may choose to make a house call with us too - but sometimes we must take the initiative to seek Him out. And, we must want to be well.

Let's make an appointment with Him today!

Thank you Monica. It is always such an encouragement to read your blog, as you seek to be more like Him. It also gives me hope, as I so want to be well. We've been doing respectable sins in my bible study at church, and while I was aware of many of my sins, there were some that I was not aware of. Thank you for being a light in the blog world!! :)

I love this "chart" - may I use it as well?
Last sunday my pastor gave a sermon of Matthew 8:1-3 (The Msg). Jesus is able and wants to heal us or meet our need. I feel your blog entry today also joins up with this. If we want Him to He is able and He wants to! :)
Be blessed!

Matthew 8
He Carried Our Diseases
1-2 Jesus came down the mountain with the cheers of the crowd still ringing in his ears. Then a leper appeared and went to his knees before Jesus, praying, "Master, if you want to, you can heal my body."

3-4Jesus reached out and touched him, saying, "I want to. Be clean." Then and there, all signs of the leprosy were gone. Jesus said, "Don't talk about this all over town. Just quietly present your healed body to the priest, along with the appropriate expressions of thanks to God. Your cleansed and grateful life, not your words, will bear witness to what I have done."

So true!!! I remember my pastor in Germany talking about this once...and how God wants to heal us, but we have to want His help!!! In any case, I really like how you expressed it and tied it in with the daily needs we have sometimes of setting appointments with doctors. It's a good segway :) :) Have a lovely week. Thanks for being such a blessing in my life ;) :) Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)
