New Year's Eve

Thanks for all of your great suggestions for New Year's Eve! Here is what we ended up doing -

We enjoyed a variety of appetizers for dinner - it was delicious! I think this could very easily become a tradition! After dinner, we pulled out a new game for the littles - Hi Ho Cherry-O and their Hungry Hippo game. Next, it was time for ice cream sundaes and then we did a balloon drop! We counted down from 10 backwards and then dropped the balloons - this was a HUGE hit! After they played with the balloons for a while, we had some sparkling grape juice and said a prayer for the new year! It was a fun evening!

What a lovely way to spend this special time of year. We always eat fondue which my youngest called "pond dew" when he was little, and play scrabble. Even though the kids are a bit older now (19,16,12) they still want to follow these traditions!

Happy New Year to you and your family Monica!
We usually do the appetizer thing as well. I love your new tradition of the dropping of the balloons. Your children will look forward to that every New Year's Eve.

That is sweet!! We had appetizers as well, though I forgot to put out a few. Oops!! We let the kids do sparklers, also. Then I conked out at 9:30-so weird for me usually.
Looks like y'all had a fun, memorable time!!

Oh, I love seeing bigger views of your home. I often wonder how people's homes are layed out, and just got a better feel for your's.

YAY for Hungry hungry hippos ;)
I LOVE The balloon drop idea. We didn't do anything to celebrate the new year as we got to Kristi's on new years eve so we were worn out! :( I love seeing family but it sure can take away from starting traditions.

The balloon drop is an AWESOME idea!

It was fun to see what you all ended up doing. I've never really known what to do with this particular holiday and it was good to gather up some ideas.

So fun! We enjoy similar new year's eve family traditions! :) Instead of a balloon drop though we broke out glow sticks and had a "dance party"... we also did the sparkling cider! :) FUN!!! I wish the flu in my fireplace was working this year- maybe by next year!

Monica,

Nathan looked at these pix with me. He got Hi Ho Cherry-o for Christmas so was excited to see your girls have it, too.

Enjoy your last day with Dad!
