Since the book is filled with photos of bunnies rather than drawings like many books - I let the girls take some of their own pictures to understand photos. We gathered all the bunny toys, books, etc that we could find and that is what we took pictures of.
I got them developed and we made them into bunny books:
We hopped like bunnies, did a bunny rhyme, made bunny ears over each others' heads:
I made bunny ears to wear to dinner:
and bunny pancakes:
Of course, we could not resist trying the bunny ears on Samuel:
We had a bunny lunch inspired by this great idea a reader sent me (thank you, Becky!):I made bunny biscuits with shredded cheese added:
Sliced up little carrot sticks and put them in "carrot seed" envelopes:
Cut apples to look like carrots:
And, served some of Annie's Bunny Cookies. I cut brown paper lunch bags to look like bunnies and packed their food inside of these. A cotton ball on the back made a perfect tail!
I made little napkin rings to look like grass - which bunnies like to play in!
Then, we went to a pet store and saw bunnies!

How sweet Monica....you are so amazing with all the activites you do with your children....on the subject of bunnies....I have been enjoying seeing "wild" bunnies in my overgrown grass recently...this morning there were 3 of the little cuties....It makes me somewhat reluctant to mow the grass.... Wow! We just finished "The Little Bunny" last week. I wish I had waited to see what you had done first! I did find a lovely idea for "The Snowy Day" which I just posted, but no doubt you would have thought of it yourself! At the dinner table after our first day of this book, my son said to hid daddy "daddy, we've had a very rabbity day today"!

How do you find the time to do all this? And I'm not just asking to make a point. I seriously want to know how you have time to do all these things and still have normalcy in your house!
What a fun theme- I am sure your children loved every minute of it. My daughter is obsessed with bunnies- she sleeps with five bunnies currently, so I know she would love those pancakes. So cute!

I get asked this question frequently. I think the best answer I can give is that I truly love doing it. When you are doing something you love - you find time, create time and thrive on spending the time doing that thing. Creating fun times and memories for my family is one of the things that does this for me - it is energizing.
Practically speaking, I also work ahead ALL the time. I am always working ahead on multiple things. It is truly the best way for me to get more done.

I am using the Before Five In A Row curriculum guide. However, I have added lots of other things to it.
My mind just seems to love ideas - so when I have seen an idea before, often it will come back to me at a later time (like cutting the paper bags to look like bunnies). Also, sometimes it is just the right idea coming along at the right time - like the reader who sent me the cute lunch link.
And, other ideas are my own. It is a big combination of lots of resources and since I love ideas so much - I read magazines, blogs, catalogs, etc... just filing ideas away!
You are a GREAT Mom!!! I am so boring!! lol How in the world do you come up with all these wonderful ideas?? And where do you get the energy??? :) I am so impressed!
