2020: The Year of Alternate Plans

We tried twice this summer to spend our week camping in North Carolina as we usually do. And, going with the flow of 2020 - it has not worked out either time. It wasn't necessarily Covid related, but weather forecast looking rainy the entire week both times. So, we found a cute little Air BNB cottage in the Hendersonville/Asheville area and had two nights away enjoying some beauty and slow!

We tried to incorporate as many of our favorite elements of camping into even just the couple of modified days that we had. First up, David scouted out a great picnic spot for us with a creek, places for hammocks and nature beauty that we all enjoy! Emily has been at the Grand Canyon with my Mom this week, so we just had Rachel and Samuel with us this time!

Next we had planned to head to Looking Glass Falls - and we did get to see the waterfall, but in the pouring rain! We definitely made a memory and thankfully had an umbrella so my camera was not ruined!

It was not yet time to check into our cottage, so we poked around in the Mast General Store {pets allowed!} and then took a drive through the Pisgah National Forest and a little bit of the Blue Ridge Parkway!

Next up: I'll show you our cozy cottage!

Thank you so much for sharing! I look forward to your posts and slow. Our year has been off for many reasons, but we did take a short trip a few weeks ago. It was wonderful! Thinking of your picnics, we started a Sunday picnic routine last week. We hope to get out on Sunday's to local parks, have a picnic and do a short hike.
I hope Emily and your mom loved the Grand Canyon. We went 2 years ago.
Blessings on your week, and I look forward to seeing the cottage tomorrow.
