A Day to Reflect
September 19 marked my Dad's first birthday in Heaven - and this was one reason for the timing of our apple picking trip - to create sweet new memories together and remember who he was in our life and how we miss him.
We started the day with some of his favorite breakfast foods: apple fritters and what we refer to as PSD's {powdered sugar donuts}! It was a cool Fall morning and lovely to be outside!
I think he would be so happy to know we were together, in the mountains, in a cute cabin, making happy memories together and enjoying some things that remind us of him.
I'll share more about apple picking in the next couple of days - but for now, I'll skip over that and share what we did later in the day related to this remembering and reflecting.
After apple picking and a rest {nap for some, quiet time for others} we went on a lovely walk and collected lots of leaves. When we got back to the cabin, we grabbed a couple of Sharpies and wrote down special memories we had of him, things we were thinking of and/or missing - really anything. It was sweet and meaningful.
It was a tender time and a sweet way to honor the day together. We miss you and love you Dad!

What a special day - and yes, I'm sure Dad would be pleased. Thank you for making all of the arrangements and plans. Sweet memories!
Beautiful tribute to your dad!
Monica, I thought your dad
Passed in December?
Yes, he passed in December so this is not commemorating the one-year anniversary, but his birthday was September 19th and that is what we were honoring.
Oh, I see.
What a beautiful birthday tribute to him!
