Quiet is a word I've used here frequently and it is something I crave. It isn't always silence that equals quiet and it is the word on my heart for this coming year. I'll be exploring thoughts including:
Quiet: practicing quiet and learning to listen
Quiet: spending less
Quiet: exercising 3 times a week
Quiet: getting organized and cleaning out
Quiet: evening quiet retreats
Quiet: reading about quiet and a word study
Quiet: schedule quieting
Do you have a word for this year?

Hi, Monica,
This morning during prayer time, the word the Lord gave me was "quiet," so I chuckled when I came to your blog and read this post. :) Looking forward to hearing what you'll share about it.

I do not have just one word, but I am hoping to focus on what God has put in my life now. So much anxiety comes into my life when I look backward or forward too closely. My eyes need to stay on Him to find the joy of what is in my life at the moment. I love the idea of quiet and look forward to reading your blog in 2013!
For me 2013 is going to be about joy... finding joy in chaos, finding joy about me, finding joy in the everyday.
Happy New Year!
I'll be eager to hear your thoughts on this word. : ) I have felt for the last few months that my word for this coming year is "abide" - abide in the vine, relying on Him to fill me, etc. I read a book called The Fruitful Wife and it has been a wonderful jumping off point for this year to lead me to abiding more deeply with Him.
Determination will be my chosen word. Determine to beat breast cancer--to spend more time with my Lord in devotion and daily living--to get healthier--to get more organized--and a few others. Happy New Year.
Happy New Year, Monica! Looking forward to your "quiet" posts.
Blessings,
Valerie
I love all your topics for the new year and I can't wait to start reading them. I always love your blog Monica. Such a wonderful read and start of my day. Also I saw you have spending less listed. I actually blog about living a thrifty lifestyle, going homemade, and how my family lives on less than $14,000 a year. If you get a chance I would love for you to hop over. I have printable menu plans and shopping lists, ready-made-mixes, and craft/sewing tutorials. It may help you out in your journey to spending less. Thanks so much M. I always appreciate the thoughts and pictures you share on your blog.

Dear Monica, Happy New Year blog friend! Thank you for all your lovely posts. I have yet to find a word for this year. I think Believe and Faith are close though. Looking forward to quiet times with you this year.

On a walk today, I thought about a word for me for 2013, but didn't come up with one.
But reading your post prompted me to turn off the football game that my husband was watching before he dozed off. :) Ah, quiet...why didn't I do that an hour ago?
My word for 2013 is "season" -- which was not on the list I was considering at all, but it jumped out at me during some conversations Dad and I had in the car on the drive home.
"For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven." Ecc. 3:1 (ASV)
May you find quiet in the coming months! :) Love, love, love you, Mom
