Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead

On our way home from Colorado, we spent a couple of days in the Kansas City area with my Aunt and Grandma. When I did a quick internet search about things to do there – I discovered this really neat children’s farmstead. It was free (wagon ride and goat feeding extra) and SO much fun! I am so glad we did this! My aunt reminded me that they had taken me here as a child – though I have no memory of that. Just a note in case you are interested in going – it is free Monday through Thursday. Friday through Sunday there is an entry fee of $2 per person.

My Grandma with our three littles!

Queen Anne's lace always makes me think of my Memee whose had these flowers at her wedding.

The one-room schoolhouse was a huge hit - I could not get my kids out of here! They wanted to stay here and we had such fun!

This looks like so much fun! Love the pictures of your children. They are growing up so fast!

My kids would enjoy this stop as well. I love places that leave so much space for personal discovery rather than prescribed activities.

I would have liked that, too. My parents were raised in the sticks about 1.5 hours from here, and they had a one room schoolhouse. Dad said each row was a different grade, or a combination of grades if there weren't many kids. It went to 11th grade in those days--early/mid 1940s.

That looks like so much fun!!!
funny thing. at first I thought the small chalk board that Emily was using was an Ipad. How times have changed!!

So glad you got to do this and love the price!! I don't remember much about going there when you were little either, but we have a picture somewhere (I'll look for it) of you feeding a goat with a bottle -- similar to the photos of E&R doing that. I think there have been many additions/improvements there since then! Thanks for sharing these great photos -- love, Mom

We live just 30 minutes from Deanna Rose. I wish I had known you were in town I would have loved to meet you. I have taken my kids there since they were little bitty. My oldest is now almost 22. Deanna Rose has changed so much over the years. For the better of course. We still love to go and walk around. It is a wonderful place.

Hey, Monica. What a great time we had that day. Thanks for sharing all those wonderful pictures. They turned out so good.:)
It was hot that day, but not nearly as hot as it has been these past couple of weeks. Glad we did that activity with the kids while you were here. Great memories!

Love you and miss you all, Grandma

If only you were there 1 month prior, we MIGHT have bumped into each other! I lived .4 miles from the entrance of there...went to highschool the next block up. Went there 3 times during our visit last month... this world seems smaller and smaller the older I get! CRAZINESS! Miss you, friend! Hope to see you SOON!

Such beautiful pictures of the farm! My favorite is the schoolhouse - maybe it wasn't charming in its day, but it certainly seems so to me now. I can see why the kids enjoyed it! TYFS these great images :)

We took the boys there (more for us to get out of the house than them as they were a bit young @ the time). Looking forward to going back when they're a bit older & can enjoy-they also do bday parties! Glad you had a good time-great pics!!!
