Several of you asked how to make the yarn flowers ~ here is how I did it. In the article in Country Living - they suggest you use a pom pom maker. I'm too thrifty (cheap) for that, so did this instead:
I made a couple of different sized templates and then just hot glued my flowers to sticks that Emily picked up in the yard for me!
I did wrap mine pretty thick as I wanted my flowers to be bushy not puny looking - it is harder to cut the yarn, but the end result is worth it! Also, if you watch the video - I did not brush my yarn out to make it fuzzy.
Have fun!

Very nice and thank you.
Thanks Monica. Since we're expecting 18 inches of snow tonight, this will be a great project for us to do tomorrow while we're snowed in!
I'll have to try to make these. This would make a good craft for my Sunday School class, too. Thanks for sharing!
Denise
We used to make these every year for our marching band boots when I was in h.s.! (Have to love our era's fashion! We had shiny white boots with black yarn pom pons tied on.) Ahh...the memories... :-)
I LOVE the yarn flowers! It makes me wish I had a stock pile of yarn to pull from. God has truly blessed you with creativity and the ability to see how to make projects you see.
Thank you for sharing, Monica. My computer seems to play only the beginning of videos, but I think I saw enough to get the idea. On another site, I saw pom pom flowers being used as gift toppers. I thought that was a clever (and frugal) idea. This looks like a good craft to be done while curled up under a blanket in the evening.
I love it when I wonder something then you post about it! I got my red and pink yarn but had a failed attempt on forming these pom poms. BUT now with these directions I am on my way to sucessful creating. I will add these to the valentines you inspired last year. Thank you Monica. Smiles from TX! Angelia
Thank you for posting this video! Our little pom pom flowers were looking a little sad, but now they look great!
