Unraveling

Ever had a pesky run in your nylons?

This past Sunday, I was wearing pants and a pair of knee-highs that did have a run in them. I went ahead and wore them because time was of the essence, and figured they'd be fine for one more morning.

When I was standing and walking - the run was invisible. When I sat down and crossed my legs, it began to show.

I sat there and wondered how many of those we see every day are like that run. On the outside, we look put together and like we are fine, but underneath something is wrong. Something is unraveling.

Thoughts like this continued to come to my mind as I sat in church. I was fine with the small run in my hose for the morning - but unraveling in spirit or heart is something completely different.

Lord,

I'm thankful that You can take my runs and make them whole again. You can keep me from unraveling and help me when I feel like I am. Please make me aware of those around me who may feel like they are unraveling beneath the surface. Give me a sensitivity to them and a willingness to reach out.

Thank You for being the great mender!

In Jesus' Name,
Amen

Lovely post Monica! Our service last week was about this and the importance & urgency of us reaching out. We could miss that one person that we were specifically created for...to reach out & minister to them. It could also be the last hour for them...when all hope is gone and they have become so desperate to even think of taking their own life.

Thank you for this post that the Lord is using to stir my heart. :)

Blessings,
Denise

Monica, that perfectly described my life for the past couple of months - everything looked fine from the outside, but the inside? not so pretty.

Thanks for this!

I can't explain, but those words just brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for the reminder that I need to let Him mend the unraveled places.

Great post, Monica! So, so very true!

If you put clear nail polish on the run, it will stop your hose from running any further.

Too bad life isn't fixed quite so easily :-)

Thank you for the great post. Since I'm always getting runs in my nylons I'll be reminded of it often.

A wonderful object lesson from real life. This also made me think of the "Mitford" prayer: Make me a blessing to someone today. I have a lot of people on my heart right now, and the tough thing is that most of them live far away.

Looking forward to talking this afternoon.

Monica,

Heavenly Father talks to me in the same way. I love how He uses little daily things like that to impress upon our hearts things that are useful :)

Wonderful post! I have been struggling the past few weeks with not feeling quite right on the inside, but still trying to hold it together on the outside. Thank God that He is there to catch us and put us together again when we do unravel.
