Haven: Clean

This morning, I was at our table with candle lit by 7:03, progress - still room for improvement! David is off today - so it is a big help in getting things accomplished as he has played with the ladies, taken out the trash and cleaned out the trash cans - plus a couple of errands.

My verse for the day is Jeremiah 31:21, "Set up road signs; put up guideposts. Take note of the highway, the road that you take."

I need to admit right off that I did not take any pictures today - it was all I could do to keep up with everyone and I just didn't manage to take pix today. Also, my attitude did not contribute to making my home a haven this morning - I confess. I was crabby and low on patience. But, God was faithful to remind me of the verse I read this morning and to show me the way to go - choosing a positive attitude and cheerful heart.

We started off our morning with a loaf of pumpkin bread and book reading. There was only one slice of bread left! So, that means the recipe is a keeper!!!

Next, I emptied the dishwasher and dishdrainer (!) while David got the ladies dressed. Then, Samuel got dressed and we started on our cleaning. The girls helped me clean their bathroom and then we dusted their room - they had fun (for a few minutes) dusting with socks on their hands (thanks for the idea, Mom!)

I finished dusting their room and Samuel's room - then went to the living room and dusted there. After that, I pulled out the vacuum did those three rooms!

I moved on to our room and pulled the sheets off before dusting and vacuuming in there. The ladies came back in and helped me clean our bathroom.

After all of this, I cleaned the kitchen - David left for lunch with a friend and all my littles watched a short movie. After that, we read books while I nursed Samuel and while he ate a teething biscuit, the ladies were playing so well together that I was able to finish the laundry room vacuum, den dust, den vacuum, wash entry way window and sweep/mop kitchen and dining room floors!!!

I grabbed the sheets from the dryer and hurried those onto our bed before fixing lunch! What a great feeling to have my list finished and only lunch time.

For the rest of my day, I have a few projects to finish and may begin working on tomorrow. How is your day going?

Monica- i have just stumbled upon your blog and I love it. I wanted to share that when my son was small and there was a lot to do at home, I would write little jobs on slips of paper and we would each draw slips. We would race to get our jobs done. ( He had a bowl to draw from and I did too) Sometimes I would have things in there like Mom does one of your chores, or sit this one out etc) It was always a fun time and when we got finished we would have a treat together.

Ahhh... things NEVER happen just as we plan. I keep having to remind myself, that I DON'T want to be in control! If I were, things get WAY out of control! Today, I planned grocery shopping, home to clean, supper, Worship practice... but right now my day has already got off track! I shopped and on my way home I saw a hurt OWL on the side of the road (I live in the country). So I ended up throwing a big blanket over it & bringing it home. My hubby is taking it to a vet that helps hurt birds now!!! (I will hopefully have some pics of the cute little guy) I know, sometimes our day gets messed up, but with GOD in control, we can trust that He will do great things!! Love your blog!

Thank you so much for doing this challenge. It is so what i needed this week.

I am all done with my tasks except for the mountain of laundry. :) Yesterday was laundry day and I never folded it.

Oh, and for my Jesse tree ornaments...our womens group at our chapel is doing an exchange. Each woman signed up to make 25 of one ornament and next week we are exchanging so that we willhave a full set. I can't wait until I have the full set.

Well, my day is going quite well...I have had a huge tidy up at work...I have been in this job for over 3 years and in that time, I haven't touched some of the previous therapist's files and old resources...so now I have a lovely tidy cupboard and am halfway through one of the filing cabinet drawers...Looking forward to getting on to my tasks at home tonight!

I felt myself feeling not as calm as I was feeling yesterday!

You did well and I'm sure you all enjoyed having Daddy home with you.

I often remind myself that yes, I can makes plans, but I need to be happy when God has other things come my way.

Thanks again for a peek into your day!! You did get a lot accomplished!

It's so nice that your husband was able to help some; goodness knows I always count that as a huge blessing. I am always impressed at how much you accomplish! And, it is good to know that you have your grumpy days too. Thank goodness I'm not alone in that! =)

My day wasn't as productive as I'd hoped in some ways, but at the same time it was more productive than I'd planned.
I got a couple rooms tidied & vacuumed & washed/put away some of the laundry.
The upside is I spent some much needed girl time (with great discussion!) with a friend (and her tiny miracle daughter!) and took my 3.5 yr old son shopping for Christmas shoe box items! It's such a blessing now that he's at the age he can understand that some kids have no toys to play with, etc. It was a great lesson! :)

I got SOOO much accomplished yesterday! Kitchen counters cleared, kitchen, hallways, mud room, eating and family rooms vacuumed and mopped; family room dusted, dining room vacuumed, school/play room vacuumed, family room curtains washed, dried, ironed and put back up; 3 bathrooms cleaned; put sheets on guest bed; 2 shirts ironed for my husband; cleared the washer and dryer; and baked a ham. I think that's all - I fell asleep on the couch at midnight : - )
