I hadn't make this cake in ages until recently when I needed a dessert and didn't have eggs! This has always been my standby recipe when there aren't enough eggs for something else!!
Double Chocolate Snack Cake
1 2/3 c. flour
1 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. water
1/3 c. oil
1 tsp. vinegar
3/4 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. choc. chips
Combine all ingredients except chocolate chips and pour into prepared 8x8 baking dish. Sprinkle with chocolate chips and bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes.

Yum! Anything chocolate is a hit for me.
I just love those quick desserts - and I'm so glad to find another one I don't need eggs for!
Last night as I was scrambling for something - I found white chocolate chips in the freezer & made homemade chocolate covered pretzels. So easy!
Yummy!
I am going to try this for snack this afternoon!
Thank you!
Looks yummy...and easy!! I'm adding it to my list to try. Thanks for sharing!
That looks fantastically yummalicious!!!
That's a similiar to the Crazy Cake I posted a while back. I like that it's so quick from mix to eat.
Yummy!

This sounds *so yummy*! Thanks for posting. I think I'm going to make it in the next couple of days!
Mmmmmmmmmmm! This looks super yummy! I think we might try this since we have been using a lot of eggs making pumpkin bread this week! Thanks!
I love this cake recipe...but I have never had it with the chocolate chips on top! YUMMY!!!!
This recipe was popular during the great depression because it does not require eggs or milk... also a great cake for those with milk or egg allergies. Thanks for the chocolate chip idea.. double the chocolate... never have too much chocolate!

This is wonderful...my son is allergic to eggs and I love chocolate!
I'm baking tomorrow!!!
I am keen to try this recipe, however, could your please explain what the 'c' is...I live in Australia and we use the metric system...eg. grams and ml's...thanks in anticipation of an answer....Might make these over the weekend.
Lisa again....all I can say is derrr....I think I have just realised that the 'c' is for cup..LOL..please confirm if I am on the right track....thanks
Hi Lisar - yes, c. is for cup. Sorry for the confusion!
I love this! So easy and quick, and it is so chocolaty. I adapted it so that I could eat it (I have a gluten/wheat intolerance) and used gluten free flour. Still turned out great. Thanks for enabling me to indulge :)
We love this snack cake in our house! My college roommate used to make it during finals week. Now I make a gluten free version for my egg, dairy, wheat and peanut allergic son.
