When my friend Grace and I get together, we always try to do some sort of crafty project! This time, we decided to make a holder for the hair bows we've enjoyed making!This was inspired by an idea my friend, Summer, mentioned in a recent e-mail. Thanks, Summer!
To make this, you will need:
art canvas (desired size); the one pictured above is 11x14 and the one pictured below is 16x20
fabric to cover canvas
various ribbons
scissors
hot glue
staple gun
Cover canvas in fabric and staple around on the back.Lay out ribbons/ric rac as desired and staple onto back.
Glue edges of fabric under to finish.
The first one I made, I did not make a hanger for and I hung it on the inside of my linen closet door - it fell off nearly every time I opened or closed the door. I added a hanger to it and made a second one to give as a gift with a hanger on it. I tapped a thumb tack through the ribbon hanger into the door and this has worked great!

YAY! It looks great. I finally hung mine up in the kids bathroom. mine worked fine without a hanger since it isn't being swung by a door.

I just found your blog and I love it. That is such a great idea and so pretty too. I wish my daughter would keep her bows in her hair instead of tearing them out.
I bet you knew this question was coming...I spot various styles of hair bows on the hanger. Some look like curling ribbon, others are made with thicker ribbon and look like they have just one bow on each side. How did you make the variations? Is it different than the original instructions?
I finished making 12 for my daughter and she has been picking one out each day, ignoring her headbands and other accessories completely.

So cute! I made a bow holder that is the same idea, except I used a frame. Depending on where you were hanging it, it gives it a finished look. I was pleased! Using rick rack was a great idea...I'm going to keep that in mind when I make more in the future!
