I had planned a Family Night to take a picnic out to the place where David proposed since that was five years ago on June 20. However, it was thundering and lightening out there, so we had to change our plans! Instead, we went to a park nearby that has covered gazebos, the girls love to play here!Dinner included fried chicken (from the grocery store), potato salad, rolls and watermelon. On the way home, we stopped at Wal-Mart and got some popsicles for $0.50 (thanks, Crystal, for the link to this coupon!) and let them have a popsicle on the porch when we got home.

Cue pix, Monica! What fun ways to celebrate the official first day of summer!
looks like a fun time! I love that dress Rachel has on, did you make that Monica? Those pops make my mouth water.
Thanks for the post on my blog, always encouraged by your visits. I miss you, and the summer is just flying by for us, hope to get together soon!
Oh my goodness -- more fun photos! What precious memories you are creating for your family! Samuel is getting so big, Rachel is full of fun and energy, and Emily is looking more grown up all the time! Happy summer! love, Mom
What a beautiful family! I love how you find the simpleness of life and enjoy it to the fullest!
With love,

Happy Summer! What a fun outing! I am always at a stupor for what to serve on picnics. Love the idea of picking up fried chicken. That takes a lot of the work out. Great idea. AND I made your brownies last night and my husband skipped all the way to the stove when I told him they were waiting! What a blessing. Thanks! We love them!
How fun! Love your blanket too - its beautiful. Where did you find it? I love the fabric!
Rachel's dress is very sweet and "summer-y".
I love family night!!!
Isn't that a cute dress! I wish I could say I made it - but Carter's did.
Lee: I'm so glad you enjoyed the brownies! :)
I love that blanket! I just got it from Kim at One Woman's Cottage Life blog - she was having a blog-garage-sale!
Your kids are sooo cute. Looks like you had a fun day.
What fun! We had to postpone our picnic due to rain. Oh well, there is still lots of nice summer days ahead. The pictures of Rachel are a hoot!
So much fun!! Thanks for sharing.
That looks like fun. My kids would love those popsicles too! What fun!
Do you make your own grapics, like the First Day of Summer, or Clean Heart grapic?
Yes, I create my own graphics to use on my blog. However, I do often use photos available through Microsoft Word clip art to start the project. This one was one I took a picture of and then added the words.
Monica,
You have inspired me so much with your creative and fun Family Nights. After reading them, I actually resolved that in 2008 I would try to have 1-2 family nights a month. This week I finally started a blog too so that I can record them. I mentioned you in my first post. Thanks for continuing to share and inspire!
How adorable, Monica! Your creativity continues to inspire me - I love your extra special touches on everything. :o)
