My favorite dessert is brownies and ice cream and I've tried lots of recipes for brownies! But, this is by far my favorite recipe and the only one I've used for several years now. These turn out delicious every time! I originally found the recipe in an issue of Taste of Home.

Fudge Brownies
1 1/3 c. flour
2 c. sugar
3/4 c. cocoa
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. chopped nuts
2/3 c. vegetable oil
4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla

Combine ingredients, do not overmix. Spread in a prepared 9x13 pan. Sprinkle with additional nuts if desired. Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes.

I can vouch for the fact that these brownies are delicious! I've switched from my long-time favorite brownie recipe to this one and have been asked for it several times. :) And, of course, I think of you when I make them. Love you, Mom

I love Taste of Home. My friend's husband called it "Grandma food". Isn't Grandma's food always the best??
thanks for the recipe. My family likes brownies and I have never been able to find a really good one. Can't wait to try these :0)

I love reading your blog. I am a daily hidden reader. The way your house runs, the love and dedication you give your family is so inspiring to me. My DH and I do not have any children yet but we will be moving into our first home next month and I look forward to putting some your ideas and recipes to great use. Thank you again for a wonderful blog - and I can't wait to make both the brownies and the lemonade! God Bless!

I'll have to try this one! I'm on the search for a great homemade brownie recipe... has to be fudgy!

Your mom's "vouch" for the brownies sealed the deal for me, of course! Mom's always know best! :)

Thanks Monica for this recipe, I'm going to try it. It doesn't require chocolate which I don't always have in my cupboard!
I have a friend from North Dakota (who is soon moving back there :-() and I've always loved looking through her Taste of Home mags.
I check your lovely blog daily and I'm adding it to my links today.

Monica! You've read my mind again! I was sitting on the couch last night after a long day and wishing I had the energy to drag myself to the kitchen for some brownies.....honest to goodness. And then's a recipe. :) It must be a sign from the Lord. ;)

I've been looking for a good brownie recipe that only needed cocoa powder and not block chocolate! I can't wait to try it.

I read in Carrie's blog that you recommended she bake brownies in a mini muffin tin. Great idea! Would you use this recipe for doing so? How full do you fill each vessel? Or about how many brownie bites would this make? I think that would make a great treat to serve at our pool this year.
Thanks, Angie

I made these brownies last weekend for my family and we all loved them! I do believe I've found a new favorite brownie recipe. My sister-in-law ran to the store and got ice cream fixins and we ended up having brownie fudge sundaes that were out of this world!

Thank you for all the sharing you do on your blog. :)

I'm here from Frugal Hacks via Like Merchant Ships--can't wait to try the recipe! So perfect as I have been looking for one with cocoa and no butter to make for dairy-allergic son. Thank you!

I can't wait to try this. Hubby has been wanting a more "fudgy" brownie than the ones I had been making. :)

Thanks for this classic recipe. I made it using brown rice flour, as I have celiac. They turned out picture perfect. This will have a permanent spot in my recipe box. Thanks again for a keeper!
