Thanksgiving Breakfast

The weather was just right for moving our table outside and enjoying Thanksgiving breakfast on the patio! I had planned to have David build a fire to go with, but we did not need the warmth! Our traditional breakfast is pumpkin pancakes and sausage. Apple cider was a nice addition this year.

After breakfast, we used one of our porch pumpkins to write things we were thankful for - it was fun! And then the cousins and Grammie enjoyed a virtual Monopoly game which lasted three hours!

Simple Pleasures: Beeswax Ornaments

My friend Becca posted this idea last Christmas and I've had the supplies for a year. But it just didn't happen last year and I recently remembered and decided to pull everything out on a Sunday afternoon. The girls and I put on a Christmas movie and it was so fun to craft these little beauties!

The silicone mold is from Michael's - we've made ice cubes with it, frozen pesto in it and more. It is so cute and makes such a sweet little design.

I used this beeswax {this is an affiliate link} and added a couple of drops of Young Living Christmas Spirit to each ornament.

I think these will be so fun to clip onto garlands and tie onto gifts! But at this point, I'm having the most fun just making them and seeing a stack of them complete and ready to gift and enjoy.

There aren't really instructions - but I just melted the beeswax, poured into the mold, added a couple drops of essential oil and laid the twine hangers in the back. It worked best when I popped the whole mold into the freezer to fully cool.

Working with my hands and creating beauty are things I am thankful for today! What are you thankful for today?

Simple Pleasures: Planning a Fun Event

As part of being in a Classical Conversations community, one of the events is planning a protocol event for our high school students. Rachel is in a class of three girls this year and in brainstorming with my Mom we came up with this idea to plan a Little Women themed event for them.

The idea of protocol is an opportunity for students to participate in a formal event including a meal and some sort of cultural outing. With Covid, it goes without saying that cultural events are not normal right now! So, we are bringing the culture to us and hosting this event at one of the families neighborhood clubhouse.

I can't wait to share more about it after the event - but for now, here are the fun invitations that I worked hard on this past week. The vision that kept coming to my mind was one of a vintage library card, so that is what I went for.

Library Card printable here. Library card pouch template here {this did not fit as printed, I had to modify it to fit the cards.}I did not spend anything to make these {also true to the theme!} and had so much making them up as I went along.

It was a beautiful afternoon so I moved my crafting supplies outside and enjoyed fresh air and creativity. So refreshing!

These turned out so cute and I had fun taking photos of them - so here is my photo journal of the creative process. Looking forward to this event and thinking of ways to make it special for these sweet little women has brought me so much joy lately and we all definitely need a dose of that right now.

What is bringing you joy this week?
