I like Ann's quote. "Waiting" by Biblical definition is an active word. I have been working through a study titled, 'Possessing the Promises of God' in the book of Joshua. Waiting for God's promises is not a time to feed unbelief and doubts, nor to despair. Waiting is a time to strengthen our faith in God, prepare to possess God's promise, and wholly follow the Lord. Hebrews 6:12 reminds us to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. In Joshua chapter 14 God fulfilled everything He promised to Caleb as He sustained and commended Caleb's faith. While waiting, Caleb "wholly followed the Lord."
There's a great sermon about this by Cheryl Brodersen 'Waiting on the Promises of God.'
