Friday started with me feeling weary before we even began. We have had a very hard year with one cute ten year old and her Math, it is nearing the end of the school year and my motivation has gone down hill in a huge way and I'm just the kind of tired that one good night of sleep won't even begin to fix.
But as I started with God and my quiet time, He reminded me that His mercies have been new every morning in the past and they will continue. He is with me in this and I felt encouraged in that as we began the day.
It's almost like my eyes were watching for the blessing of His mercies for this day to be made visible to me. And, they were.
Emily did her Math with a happy heart and in a timely manner and she.got.a.one.hundred. Oh yes. This was a huge blessing and encouragement! I was so excited I announced we were all going out to breakfast!
Sharing cinnamon rolls and hash browns and chicken biscuits, Samuel announced, "This is the best breakfast day ever!" His mercies are new.
We read our current breakfast book - Thoughts to Make Your Heart Sing {love this book!} and Rachel fed her elephant, blueberry. Oh, these precious moments. His mercies are new.
The gift of these blessings helps sustain me through a day when I don't want to keep on keeping on pursuing truth, goodness and beauty with my children. I just want a nap. But then the mercies of God open my eyes to what I would miss if I check out and step away from the beauty of life that surrounds me. We took a nature walk, we admired moss and blooms and bark on old trees. We collected nature goodies and generally put on an attitude to explore. His mercies are new.
Lamentations 3:22-23, "Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."

I am so happy that you were given this day! Friday must have been a day of restoration because after much weariness I was given a day of refreshment on also. I am thankful that when I feel that I can't take one more step He is there to lift me up and renew my spirit. God is so good and faithful!

AMEN!! I'm so thankful this beautiful verse helped you through your day, Honey. You do SUCH a good job with your kiddos, but I KNOW it is tiring. Believe me, I do know how exhausting it can be to put up with 3 active little ones and I didn't home-school like you do. I've been feeling that so-tired-motivation-gone toward our homeschooling, too. God is so good to give us His strength when ours is gone.
