Simple Beauty: Light a Candle

I'm not trying to be painfully obvious here - this is something that I frequently forget to do, but really - how much easier can you get than just lighting a little candle? But, that little sparkle, that little warmth really adds such a homey touch. We only use unscented or vanilla candles, but if you like the scented that would add a nice touch as well!

Speaking of yummy smells, when I'm cleaning - I love to use Mrs. Meyers lavender spray! It lasts forever and I love the way it smells.

Next week: little ways to streamline!

I use more candles in the fall/winter than I do in spring/summer. I guess because it is dark later in the evening so thank you for the reminder.

I enjoy candles! Something about the warm glow relaxes me and makes my home feel all cozy.

I have to echo Lynn Marie. When the house is cozy in the winter, I tend to burn more candles.

I like to lite the candle on my coffee table, when the living room has just been cleaned. Same for in the kitchen, after it's cleaned, lite a candle. It kind of is the finishing touch.

I have three dogs and a sweaty teenage son, so I go through quite a few candles. When my children were the ages of yours I didn't use candles very often out of fear that someone would get hurt.

Isn't it amazing what a candle can do for a home? Makes me think about how many times it's used in the bible as an illustration. So true.

We love the warm glow of candlelight but have stopped lighting candles since my mom was put on oxygen 24/7 last year, making open flame a bad thing. (Mom lives with us.) Recently, however, I've discovered not only battery operated votives, which we put in pretty votive cups to disguise the "fake" look of them, but also we've found battery operated taper and pillar candles! We turned them all on at once during a recent power outage and it was lovely!

Someday I plan on staining some mason jars blue...and using tea lights to make hanging luminaries. I love small candles :) :)

Oh, Mrs. Meyer cleaning products are AWESOME. I'm partial to "lemon verbena" myself :) :)

Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)
