You are a wonderful example and inspiration to me.
As for the study...absolutely perfect. I have been wanting to go over the fruits of the spirit with my older kids (9 & 8 years). Also, I have a 3 year old that is begging to start school and I had no idea what to do with her. She is a little firecracker and I think she will benefit greatly from a study like this (probably me too!).
Thank you so much for sharing this. I can't wait to see more!

I don't have any first day of school traditions (besides a photo of them). But I'm thinking about starting one this year. The kids earned free passes to a local hands-on science center. We've had such a stressful end of school year and summer that I thought we'd have a field trip for our first day of school. If it goes well then maybe it'll become a tradition.Sugarcomahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01624800371821536550noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13617895.post-13624839758859230392009-08-15T01:05:28.329-04:002009-08-15T01:05:28.329-04:00You know I have been thinking about what I will do...You know I have been thinking about what I will do this year for school and thank you for the inpiration I feel like my brain is finally starting to plan. I have three boys - 7, 2, and 8 months. I would love to use some of your ideas as we begin our homeschool year in two weeks!

For our first day of school, we usually try to do something fun for lunch - McDonald's (a big treat around here) or a picnic outside with favorite foods - and a special dessert after supper. Some things we did for her this year, on her first day of homeschool: she picked a special 1st day breakfast, picture in front of the house, and we got her new dress to celebrate the first day. (I knew that if she was going to school I would have had to buy her some new fall clothes by now, so it seems just as easy to celebrate the first day with a new dress). :)Stephaniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04660852009014295034noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13617895.post-27696691004079875342009-08-14T15:57:25.196-04:002009-08-14T15:57:25.196-04:00I remember seeing your note "fruit of the spi...I remember seeing your note "fruit of the spirit" when you had your refuel break a few weeks ago. I know you have put much thought, prayer and planning into this. I will be using your prayerful ideas and know that they will add more beauty to our year of home schooling. I have heard Him repeatedly tell me as you are doing in this unit study...Our relationship with Him is where it all begins. First Knowing Him and having an understanding of our relationship with Him, then the other learning comes in tune. I want to get this foundation set first. Thank you for praying for us. I have an 18 month old, 3 and 5 year old, and one more on the way. We started our homeschool 2 weeks ago. Our son is starting 2nd grade and our daughter is a sophomore in college. We only had one year of a group photo! lol I make a special breakfast, usually French toast or waffles and bacon and fresh fruit and have the table set in a cheery way. I hang a banner that says "Happy First Day of School". Our kids always give a muffin or cinnamon roll to our bus driver on the first day to kind of break the ice. My sister was a few years younger than my brother and I, but didn't like being left out, so there were several years where she held a sign that said "Not Yet." I have these pictures from every year from preschool on up.
