Doily Covered Glasses

In a recent post, a couple of you spied some glasses and asked about them - and I realized I'd never shared this idea which I've been using for over a decade!

Here's the deal - I start with ten cent thrift store glasses (the jars that chipped beef come in, they are so cute with stars around the tops!) and turn it upside down.

Lay a doily over the bottom of the glass:

Slip a rubber band over that to hold it in place:
Slip a ribbon or raffia bow over that (I keep the same raffia bows
tied in a bag and just slip them on each time):
Enjoy a cute party glass!

I like that this serves a dual purpose. So pretty and feminine and the doily collects the condensation from a cold glass of tea or lemonade. I'm getting very thirsty!

Cool!! That is really cute.

Dried beef, in jars??? Really?? I have never seen that before...

So cute Monica! I bet it would be cute with a round of fabric as well, if one didn't have doilies, or bandanas for the 4th of July, or burlap??

Very very cute.
And as someone who has wet marks all over the furniture from my iced tea glasses, I think I need this!

I know you know "Eagle-Eye Elise" noticed those doilies right away!! LOVE that idea. I saw a party idea for a pioneer/Little House/American Girl{one of those type} parties and that idea would be darling to incorporate. I'll send you the link when I find it.

Hi! My sister and I are so inspired by your page. This fathers day we (my three sisters and I) took my dad out for a brakfast picnic at the lake!It was neat because all of us girls range from 25-30 years old! We made the table special with table cloths, cut flowers, fruit cups, cinnamon rolls in a heart shaped pan...and rolled silverware. You are so great and you do a wonderful job! Thanks!

I never thanked you for answering my question about these chipped beef glasses. I am going to try to find some to thrift! My family can't eat the ingredients in the chipped beef or I'd buy some. I really like your decorated version, and I love the stars on the glasses! Thank you!

How lovely! When I was first married someone gave me a set of crocheted glass holders and they were so pretty. Plus they absorbed the moisture from the glass. I lost them in one of our many moves, but they were sweet. Hmm, wonder if I can recruit someone to crochet some more for me?
